What is a portrait  character doll?

Would you like your family to live in your dollhouse? Maybe you have lost a very special person and you would like to have a character doll of them as a lasting memory or maybe a special occasion is coming up and you would like to buy a gift that is unique.

How it all started

Recently my step dad Winfield turned 70 and he is a man who has everything so presents are difficult! We came up with the idea to make him in miniature. As he does not have a dollhouse or miniature collection, we designed the doll to be in a little scene on a plinth so it was a piece in its own right.

He loves gardening so we have him sat on a bench enjoying a well deserved cup of tea, from his favourite mug! He is surrounded by tools and hanging baskets...he loves making the most wonderful hanging baskets!

Since making this piece everyone who enters my parents house is shown the scene and asked if they know who it is. My dad gets such delight from it and often just sits chuckling at himself. This was what made us decide to make other people in miniature.

The outfit is an exact replica of the clothes he wears when in the garden. The pose is also taken from how he likes to sit!

It has proved very popular with quite a few commissions for people who are unfortunately no longer with us, what a special way to keep someone close in your thoughts.

What will I get if I order a portrait doll?

This is entirely up to you. You can have a stand alone decorative piece or a character for any miniature scene you have. The stand alone piece can incorporate all the little things that the person enjoys doing or maybe a favourite chair or pet. The list is endless!

What will it cost?

A portrait doll for a scene you already have will be £80 and will be for a portrait doll only.

A stand alone piece will depend upon what you want. We can give you a clearer idea of cost once you tell us what it is you would like.

How do I order one?

If you would like a portrait character doll please email us with details of what you would like and we will take it from there. If you decided to go ahead then a small non-refundable deposit will be required.

You will need to send us some clear photographs to work from and a very clear description of the persons mannerisms and clothes. All photographs will be taken care of and will be sent back to you with the doll once it is complete.
